Walmart’s mission statement is “to save people money so they can live
better”. Walmart Company’s mission defines its principles guiding its
business. The success of the company is linked with fulfilling its vision and
mission. Through cost leadership strategy, Walmart always follows its mission
and the growth of strategies such as market development and market
penetration are a result of its mission. The company has the objectives of
enhancing the sustainability of their operations and value chains. The
company is working with others to have sustainable production of goods and
products which will meet the expanding global population.

Motivators of Walmart’s sustainability


Walmart’s Company sustainability is motivated by its employees and
suppliers. According to Lee Scott, the manager who ran Walmart from the
year 2000 to 2009, sustainability vision would be laid by “using more
renewable energy and selling products that sustained people and the
environment” (David & Andrew, 2018). Executives from Walmart’s store on
down passionately work about making the company environmentally friendly.
By the employees engaging with critics, environmental groups, and journalists
they gain a deeper understanding of sustainability. In his speech, Scott said
that the sustainability of the company is met by suppliers focusing on
influential product sustainability strategy. Supplier scorecards helped to
identify inefficiencies in their supply chain.

When enhancing sustainability in its supply chain, Walmart engages its
suppliers in prioritizing the environment. Suppliers are required to focus on
energy efficiency and renewable energy, producing products that lower
emission of gasses, and reducing waste. The company’s main aspirational goal
