Excel Project 3
COVID-19 has dramatically impacted our lives over the past couple of weeks and will continue to do so
for some time. This problem set relates to this current situation.
Go to: https://scdhec.gov/infectious-diseases/viruses/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid19/monitoring-testing-covid-19 Notice you can filter by county. If you live outside SC, find the dhec
site in your state or similar site in your country if you are outside the US.
Start keeping a daily chart in Excel (or Google worksheets if you have a MAC without Excel) for your
county (or region – whatever it may be called in your area if you are outside the US). Track the
number of confirmed cases and the number of deaths on a daily basis. If you already have more
than two or three cases in your county, look for news articles that show how many happened in the
preceding days. Track these data points from now through the end of class, April 22.
Make an appropriate graph to visually display the data.
Calculate the mean and standard deviation of confirmed cases for the time period covered.
Calculate the mean and standard deviation of deaths for the time period covered.
Consider the changes you have had to make since the campus closed. Make a list of the
changes/adjustments you have had to make as a student/citizen.
What have you learned through those changes?
How might the changes help you be a better student?
Will the changes/adaptations help you be better prepared the next time a crisis occurs either for the
country or in your life? Explain.
