It is important to understand how our perception of self and situations can cause stress.

During our class meeting I discussed resilience and the three ways we can overcome life adversities. I learned this after watching TED TALK The three secrets of resilient people by Lucy Hone.

1) Acceptance/Acknowledgment of the situation as part of life

  • focus on things you can change, accept the things that you can't
  • Tune in to the good, positive things
  • Think of things you are grateful

3) Is what you are doing helping or harming you?

Having positive perception of oneself and life situations in general can help enhance a
person’s wellbeing. Personally, I can do a number of things to have a more positive perception of
myself and life situations. Firstly, I can try to focus positive thinking while still observing my
weaknesses and figure out how to minimize them. I can also try as much as possible to avoid
negative thinking such as focusing on my failures or how things could turn out to be tougher in
the future. The third thong I can do is to follow a healthier lifestyle. This could include eating
healthy and doing exercise to keep fit and avoid stressful situations.
Being resilience can help overcome adverse life situations. Being resilience helps, we
find a way to survive even the most difficult life situations. It gives us the strength to deal with
