1. For this discussion, you will preferably need to watch the film The Shining. Please be aware that this is an R-rated film and includes graphic language, violence, and several scenes of nudity. If you feel this content will be too upsetting for you to watch, please let us know beforehand. **Regardless, you can still participate in the discussion by referencing this week's reading "Heirs Through Fear." Simply focus on Question Prompt d.**
2. To view the film, you can view it through UCI's library website. If living off campus, be sure to download and install the UCI VPN. (Be sure to choose UCIFull as your Group when you log in). Also another version is currently available onyoutube (Links to an external site.), where you can access individual scenes or watch the entire film. (Unfortunately, there are no subtitles in this version).

One of the common features of The Shining is the haunted place or ghosts. As opposed to
other ghost stories, the movie’s spirits or presence is psychological rather than physical. From
the beginning of the film, the atmosphere is unsettling. The film’s haunted theme can be
