Signature Assignment Title: Pathophysiology

Signature Assignment Description/Directions: Multisystem issues are often a consequence of a failing body system and identification and consideration to determine the underlying cause of illness is essential. Though illness may create multisystem issues and may affect many body systems, for this assignment you will focus on three: renal, pulmonary, and circulatory systems.

This PowerPoint® (Microsoft Office) or Impress® (Open Office) presentation should be a minimum of 20 slides, include a title and reference slide, and detailed speaker notes and a recorded audio clip on all content slides. You will discuss a specific illness, disorder or disease and the interrelationship with the renal, pulmonary, and circulatory systems, specifically identifying and describing how an alternation in one systems may affect one or more of other two body systems. Explain how the body tries to compensate for a disorder, with assistance or reliance on another body system. Your submission should include three graphics or illustrations and a minimum of 5 peer-reviewed sources to support any of your perspective. Please review the module’s Signature Assignment Rubric before starting this assignment to ensure that you are meeting all the essential requirements.

Pathophysiology

It is the study of changes of the normal behaviour of body.

The changes may be physical, mechanical or biochemical.

The changes may occur due to a disease or abnormal syndrome.

Pulmonary-Renal Syndrome

Pulmonary renal syndrome is diffuse alveolar haemorrhage plus
glomerulonephritis.

The two illnesses may occur simultaneously.

The disease affects the pulmonary and renal.

("Pulmonary-Renal Syndrome - Lung and Airway Disorders - MSD Manual
Consumer Version," n.d.)

Background information

Pulmonary pathology- it is a small-vessel vasculitis that has the
arterioles, venules and alveolar capillaries.

Renal pathology – it is also a small vessel vasculitis that is formed of
focal segmental proliferative glomerulonephritis.

The syndrome is caused by alveolar haemorrhage plus
glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis and Diffuse
Alveolar Hemorrhage

Glomerular disorders can be classified as urine changes that:

Have fat casts, oval fat bodies cellular casts and few cells.

Having red blood cells that are dysmporphic.

Diffuse Alveolar Hemorrhage can also be referred to as persistent or
recurrent pulmonary haemorrhage.

A common symptom of the disease is having dyspnea, hemotysis,
and cough.

("Hyperuricemia-pulmonary hypertension-renal failure-alkalosis
syndrome," 2020, p. 25)

Etiology / causes of the disease.

There are various causes of pulmonary renal syndrome:

They include:

Connective tissue disorders

Renal disorders

System vasculitis

Goodpasture syndrome

Connective tissue disorders and
renal disorders

Examples of connective tissue disorders are:

Systemic lupus erythematosus

systemic sclerosis

Polymyositis

Rheumatoid arthritis

Examples of renal disorders are:
Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis especially with heart failure.

Immunoglobulin A nephropathy

Idiopathic immune complex glomerulonephritis

System Vasculitis and Good
pasture syndrome

Examples of system vasculitis include.

Microscopic polyangiitis

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis

Cryoglobulinemia

IgA–associated vasculitis

Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis

Behçet disease
