WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION AND TERRORISM
Terrorists and the CNBRN WMD
The world is worried of terrorist weaponry advancement. In the last few
decades, there have been fatal attacks in some nations, with most affected nations being
the USA, Kenya, Nigeria, Libya, France and others. Bombing incidences, as well as
shootouts are common phenomena. The result has triggered the formation of several
organisations that incorporate various countries in the world, to curb such cold blooded
incidences. Terrorists are advancing with improvement of technology, and the danger is
rising to greater heights (Caldwell, & Williams, 2016).
The world is more worried about what might result, if terrorists attain
successfully, and start using Chemical, Biological, and Radioactive Nuclear weapons
(Parachini, 2013). It is not a question of if these weapons exist; it is a question of who
has access to the weapons. Various military have made weapons, mostly nuclear and
chemical, for the protection of their nations, but fear is that the weapons, if store, can
eventually gets to the wrong hands and leads to mass destruction of life and property. A
major question is whether terrorist will be able o use CBRN for their ill intended
genocides (Caldwell, & Williams Jr, 2016).
The best way to keep terrorists off BBRNs is through the involvement of
individual states. It has been noted that terrorists are mostly military personnel, who
rebel or work from within the various militaries. They have access to the weapons that
the nations manufacture, and have the technical skills required handling and using the
weapons. If nations were set free to produce such weapons, the weapons might get to
the wrong hands, and be of aid to the terrorists. A reflection a century back, during the
World War I, the German military had created a deadly chemical that they called the

sneezing gas, with TNT as the main ingredient. Its effect was not as mild as the French
tear gas was. In an encounter with France, the French military used tear gas, and they
were tempted to launch their chemical weapon. The good thing is that war was coming
to an end, and before the launch of this deadly CW, a peace treaty was agreed upon.
Having the CBRN weapons of mass destruction is a threat. If reckless soldiers chose to
use it without a second thought, the effect of the WWI could not bee the bad history
knows today; it could be worse (Parachini, 2013).
Two organizations have been very active in the fight of WMD manufacturing
and storing. They have gone to levels of pleading with nations that have been making
the weapons to stop and discard any threatening weapons they may be manufacturing.
The organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) has pleaded with
Syria to discard its CW reserved, and it is great news to the wor...
