Question Description

Ms. K sold 6 more than 3 times the number of CDs that she sold this week. She sold a total of 108 CDs over the 2 weeks. Write the system of equations that can be used to find l, the # of CDs she sold last week, and t, the # of CD's sold this week

Break the question into parts:

Ms. K sold 6 more than 3 times the # of CDs that she sold this week.

So if x represents CD's then Ms. K sold 3x + 6 (3 times the amount of CD's sold plus 6 more). Set this equal to t.

and

She sold a total of 108 CDs over the two weeks....

so we want

the # of CDs she sold last week, and  the # of CD's sold this week

But we know that THIS week she sold:

t = 3x+6

So if she sold 108 CD's over 2 weeks and she sold t (3x + 6) CDs this week then last week she would have sold the total amount minus the amount she sold this week so...

l = 108-(3x+6)

So your system of equations is:

t = 3x+6

l = 108-t

Tutor went the extra mile to help me with this essay. Citations were a bit shaky but I appreciated how well he handled APA styles and how ok he was to change them even though I didnt specify. Got a B+ which is believable and acceptable.
