Introduction;
The film is based in a small island town by the name lampedusa. A very ideal but rather
climatically harsh island located in the south of Italy. The main character Filippo is the son of
Giulieta. He lost his father in the sea a few years back and now he lives with his mother. Filippo
has an uncle Nino who is a business owner, and runs some sort of tour organizing company in
the island. There is also his grandfather Ernesto who is a fisherman.
The theme of isolation in this film is mainly alienation. This is manifested mainly in the
main story that focuses on illegal immigration issues encountered by different characters in the
film. The town’s people of lampesuda are the main manifestation of this theme because of their
reluctance to accommodate the immigrants who coming in through the sea from different parts of
