Description
For your final writing assignment of the year—and the final assignment of your high school career, what better material for it than you and your experience at Prep? I want you to take the experience of high school to write as best you can in the style of a memoir. If you’ve been paying attention, you have a sense now of what’s possible when you take words out of your head and put them on paper: expression, entertainment, persuasion, connection, inspiration.
Recall from 10th grade English that a memoir is a genre of writing that uses imagery (show, don’t tell!), all the elements of storytelling, and reads almost like a work of fiction. It is indeed a creative endeavor; a mix of imagery, personal revelation, and contemplation. The point of view is personal--in first person.
These are big questions, but the hope is that you can think about the lessons, the books, the people—friends, teachers, and maybe even enemies, the hours before and after school as well as the hours during school, the activities, the spaces, the rooms, the experiences—messy, imperfect, humbling, painful, beautiful, to then answer some of the above questions (although you shouldn’t feel limited by the above questions). This will have a beginning, a middle, and an end, yes, but it is your creative endeavor here, so the structure and length is really up to you.

My Memories at Prep
There are several most definitive memories at Prep, but the one that stands out was when
I got an opportunity to interact with fellow schoolmates and made several friends. I remember
my first day of being admitted to the school; I was shy, considering I was antisocial at the time,
but after meeting different students, I got comfortable with the new environment to an extent
where I made a lot of new friends. Having the opportunity to interact with fellow schoolmates
also made me embrace being open to new ideas where I had friends who were gif...
