Surname 1 Name: Professor: Course: Date: Female Genital Mutilation in Today’s Society Purpose To inform my audience about Female Genital Mutilation and the demerits and perils it exposes those caught up in this act of barbarism. Additionally, this speech seeks to create awareness on the need to join hands, at every level of contemporary society, to shun and eject the practice through endorsement of enforceable laws aimed at its scrapping on a global scale. 1. Introduction Attention getter: Envision the pain experienced during child birth. Envision experiencing half the pain. Picture yourself being subjected forcibly to undergo such pain. That is what is referred to as Female Genital Mutilation. According to the WHO, Female Genital Mutilation is any form of cutting or removal of some or all part of the genital organs of a woman, especially excision of the clitoris. This process is encouraged mostly by elders and parents in most African countries. There are also cases of this practice in the Middle East and Asian countries (1). Thesis Statement: Ignorance on the impacts of Female Genital Mutilation has left the girl-child suffering for such a long time while exposed to possible bleeding to death, infection by transmittable maladies and stigmatization owing to subjection to this archaic practice. 2. Reasons for FGM Surname 2 a. Religious purification: Most societies that practice this act have cultural beliefs with baseless proof on how it religiously purifies a woman (Burrage, 40). b. Reduction of a woman’s libido: Most communities believe that this act assists a woman to resist extramarital sexual acts through curtailing on their libido and sexual drive (WHO 1). Nonetheless, FGM has no proven health benefits as it only causes harm to girls and women in numerous ways. It involves interfering with normal functions of girls and women’s bodies. 3. Consequences of Female Genital Mutilation a. Severe pain: The practice is mostly carried out by traditional circumcisers who use traditional herbs to numb the consequential pain, which is not effective. Furthermore, the practice is very painful as it also involves removal of the inner folds of the vulva. b. High chances of complications during childbirth: Girls and women who undergo this practice have high chances of experiencing complications during child delivery such as the need to resuscitate the baby, caesarean section, excessive bleeding and other complications (Reisel & Creighton 49). c. There is need to eradicate this act as it causes untold suffering to victims. There have been measures to counteract this practice mostly at both the international level and local levels, albeit more pro-activeness is warranted to curb the practice altogether. 4. Measures against FGM a. Elimination of FGM Internationally: In 2008, the WHO and 9 other United Nations member countries issued a statement prohibiting this practice (WHO 1). Surname 3 b. Anti-FGM laws: African nations such as Mali and Kenya have adopted laws that facilitate the abolishment of this inhumane practice (Bowman & Kuenyehia 435). Therefore, there is need to develop laws, on a wider scope, that ensure that there is complete eradication of this practice to protect the girl child against such mutilation. Conclusion Having addressed the reasons behind FGM, its severe implications and the need to develop legal measures that ensure that this practice is completely eradicated, there is need for everybody to play his or her part in ensuring that this practice does not persist proliferating both in Africa and the world as whole. There should be no more ignorance on Female Genital Mutilation anymore. Everyone should ensure that education on the perils of FGM is undertaken to sensitize all people in all societies as ignorance on this barbarism and archaism has far-reaching implications on everybody in the whole world than contemplated. Explanation & Answer

Hello again. As you know, your spec said nothing about Powerpoint slides, and you've said next to nothing here.  You did, of course, supply a bibliography, and I converted that to strict APA guidelines.I'm not allowed to add things out of scope like that without any written spec.  Studypool would be extremely unhappy with me.  You have to add a new task for that.  I will be delighted to bid on it.Here's the revised paper.  Have a terrific day.

I. Introduction
A. Purpose/position
Female genital mutilation (FGM) is an outdated, barbaric practice that harms
women across the Third World.
B. Credibility
The World Health Organization and the United Nations have determined that
FGM is dangerous, painful, and abusive and is unnecessarily performed upon
hundreds of millions of women.
Provide bar graph showing the number of FGMs performed in various
countries in Africa and the Middle East, using bold, shocking colors
