Minority groups are vulnerable to sicknesses and early death. Many factors are attributed
to the escalating morbidity and mortality among minority groups (Levin, 2019). It thus goes
without saying the care provision they receive from providers is one of the attributing factors to
the increased death rate amongst these populations. For instance, black people amongst other
minority groups do not receive similar quality health care like their counterparts the white and
hence, their lives are getting shortened. A report by the National Academy of Medicine
concluded that black life is not shortened by the poor conditions they are mostly subjected to or
their sicknesses, rather, racial and ethnic minorities have limited access to healthcare as
compared to white people. The aspect does not change even when insurance status, income, age,
as well as the prevailing health conditions are the same. NAM concluded that minority groups
are subjected to inferior care by their physicians.
