Question Description

How can humans enjoy the benefits of urban life without crowding, crime, and alienation? How can we use history to inform our vision the future?

The benefits of urban life are supposed to a form of Utopia--an ideal community of equality in social, political and moral aspects. This should mean affordable housing, transport, utilities, and a fair wage and taxation system.

Dystopia means the opposite, such as quoted in the question. Crowding, crime, alienation, oppression, poverty.

An ideal vision for the future of urban life needs leaders/governments to envision, plan and fund a more equitable society. One  example, with housing, is for  cluster dwelling areas to  include open spaces for enjoyment and sporting activities.
