Project 4 Start Here
Over this two-week period, you will use mathematical operations and data analysis to solve problems and inform decision making. Your final assignment will be the creation of a comprehensive Excel workbook with supporting charts and graphs and a short analysis of the data.
This project will enable you to refresh and refine your skills in math and statistics before you tackle a real-world data set using Excel to analyze and display the data.
Quantitative reasoning uses a process similar to the qualitative research process in that you will first identify an issue or problem and then use mathematical formulas or an analytic tool to derive a solution. You will construct graphs, charts, and tables to display data and inform analysis and interpretation. You will evaluate the results of the information, draw analyses and validate them by applying them to the issue or problem.
This project will enable you to see the connection between data and how the use of quantitative analysis of that data informs solutions to practical problems with potential impact on your organization or industry.
There are 10 steps that lead you through this project. Each step should take about two hours to complete. Begin by watching the video above, which introduces the project as it might occur in the workplace, then continue with Step 1: Refresh Your Math, Statistics, and Excel Skills.

Response to the Graphs
There is a high chance of employee disparity as the from thee Gender pie chart, it can be seen that there is about 81
percent of Male employees as compared to 19 percent of counterpart gender. On the education pie chart, the
company employees’ people with high school diploma that people with bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree. The
distribution is uniform basing on the pie chart which indicates a diversity in the level of education. But on a closer
scrutiny of the graph, the company is lagging behind implementing the diversity in the workforce depending on a
large difference in the employed education levels.
The company employees more Caucasians that Asians and Hispanic, hence this indicates that there is no diversity
in race but there is a uniform distribution of number of employees per state indicating that the company did a
selection from all states. Though the Northeast had the highest personal.
The sale of the company fluctuated over the years by with a steady increase as seen from the line graph of the
summary. Though from year one it increased about $1 million but declined to $0 in year 3.and then the trend
started improving slowly up to $5 million sales in year sixteen before it started to drop again.
These analyses can help a company to change its strategies in terms of diversifying its employes in regard to gender, race,
states and the marital status. Diversity due to such factors will help the company to increase it is product with a larger
markeet segementation.
