Description

Read the two articles on experimental research in psychology. To what extent do you think the research methods used by psychologists adequately explain human behavior in the real world? Choose one of the articles that you have read for your final project and discuss how it relates to the arguments made in this week's articles. When responding to your classmates, incorporate examples from the articles you are reading for your final project.

Psychology Experiments
In the field of psychology, the research methods used by researchers are fundamental
when it comes to conducting research. When doing research, psychologists majorly focus on the
validity of their research results and conclusions. Validity is the extent to which the information
from a research study may be considered reliable and credible for application in the real world.
Validity is grouped into two that is, external efficacy and internal efficacy. For internal validity
to be achieved, the research results and findings must be in line with the observation made, and
the methods used to collect the data. According to the studies done by Craig, James, and Brad,
most of the laboratory experiments in the field of psychology lack external validity (Anderson,
Lindsay, and Bushman 1999). The three writers endeavored to examine the suggestions that
specific research techniques are not practical inside the real-world setting.
One of these models incorporates a memory-based investigation in which half of the
members were approached to consider a word list while remaining with their heads in a case that
contained various varieties of colorful blazing lights. The other portion of the group members
were approached to contemplate the word list without placing their heads in a case. This
investigation was directed with an end goal to show setting dependent memory. The issue with
this regarding actual application in the real world is that there are no genuine conditions where
an individual would have their head in a case while doing research.
Another article I read was done by the authors Roy, Kathleen, and David and was about
the effects of the methods used by psychologists in their studies (Baumeister et al., 2007). Inside
these survey-based investigations, there was a recognizable pattern that exhibited inclination as
far as the metho...
