Personal Action Plan for Diversity Consciousness
Institutional Affiliation

Diversity is a term used to refer to differences amongst people. It is from diversity that we get
rich and infinity variety of ourselves (Diller, 2013). It may come in various forms to mention
ethnicity, gender, race, religious beliefs, age, education, language spoken, geographic location
and physical and mental ability among others.

Reasons for taking the course
The course was critical and worthy undertaking. I cannot underscore the importance of diversity
in people interactions as well as working in a multi-cultural environment. I knew that diversity
helps in expanding worldliness. I therefore saw this as a perfect opportunity to take advantage of
and learn some of the ways to accommodate diversity by tolerating others. This would also be an
ideal place to demonstrate diversity since we have diverse people in the college. This course will
therefore be practical and open me to entire world view without necessarily travelling anywhere.
I also took the course as a mind preparation to working in a global society. I do not want to limit
myself working in the country only. I wish to work in a global company and lend myself into
other countries where I can learn a lot especially in the developing countries. Diversity
awareness will therefore impart me with necessary knowledge of handling and amicably living

with diverse groups. This is important because I do not have powers to choose my possible
workmate, customers or people I live with or share social amenities with since they may come
from diverse backgrounds. Therefore, this course, I thought would make me experience diversity
thus laying groundwork so that in future I won’t find it a problem to work and interact with
individuals from other nationalities.
Ways (2) in which diversity awareness has been affected by taking this class
Diversity awareness has been the best experience I can live to tell. This class has made me to
appreciate diverse groups in the s...
