E‐Cigarettes are Just as Harmful as Tobacco Cigarettes
Introduction
An electronic cigarette is a type of an electronic device which stimulates the tobacco
smoking in human beings. The electronic cigarette contains a powered battery, which helps in
the production of the vapor. The users of the cigarettes inhale the steam in a process called
vaping (Glantz, 2018). Tobacco cigarettes are made from tobacco, and users usually inhale
tobacco smoke. The main difference between tobacco cigarettes and electronic cigarettes is that
the e-cigarettes do not contain the tobacco substance in them. The essay explains the claim that
e-cigarettes are harmful the same way tobacco cigarettes harm the users.
Body
Defining the claim and its counter-argument
The claim is that when people take electronic cigarettes, they feel the same harm as the
one who takes tobacco cigarettes. The manufacturing of the two types of cigarettes and the
chemical found in them may be different, but the harmfulness level in the two is the same. The
claim shows there is no difference in terms of harm between the people who take the e-cigarettes
and those who use tobacco cigarettes.
The counter-argument is that there is a difference in harm between taking an electronic
cigarette and taking tobacco cigarettes. E-cigarettes are less harmful when compared to tobacco
cigarettes because of the chemicals used in the preparation. Both stimulate the user using tobacco
vapor, but tobacco cigarettes are more dangerous than electronic cigarettes when it comes to the
level of harmfulness.
