Create a PowerPoint presentation of 15-20 slides (slide count does not include title and references slide) describing the chosen community interest.

Include the following in your presentation:

  1. Description of community and community boundaries: the people and the geographic, geopolitical, financial, educational level; ethnic and phenomenological features of the community, as well as types of social interactions; common goals and interests; and barriers, and challenges, including any identified social determinates of health.
  2. Summary of community assessment: (a) funding sources and (b) partnerships.
  3. Summary of interview with community health/public health provider.
  4. Identification of an issue that is lacking or an opportunity for health promotion.
  5. A conclusion summarizing your key findings and a discussion of your impressions of the general health of the community.

Question 1. What values of community health nursing do you consider the most important in
your work?
Answer: As a nurse, I value the change I make and the impact on the population. Healthcare
workers must consider how they impact the community because we do more than just delivering
services. Personally, I aim to make a positive impression on every patient I deal with.
Question 2. What do you believe are the major health challenges for people in South Side?
Answer: The people of South side Chicago do not have adequate access to healthy foods. There
are many fast food shops but few groceries. Drug abuse is also widespread and this is made
worse by the gangs and drug dealing activity. Young people are exposed to drug use and
addiction. Many people also do not have adequate access to healthcare.
Question 3. In your assessment of South Side, how does crime affect wellness of the youth?
Answer: As I have said, there is a high rate of crime in this side of the city. I believe that the
presence of drugs on the streets is what mostly affects health. Young people easily access drugs
and the rates of overdose are generally high here.
Question 4. How can the average nurse alleviate the problem of access to healthcare you have
identified?
Answer: Nurses can contribute by designing programs that go to the people. For example, mass
testing for the current virus pandemic can be organized for nurses to enhance access to
healthcare facilities.
