Few companies have enjoyed such a meteoric rise as Amazon in the last two decades
with the online retailer making immense strides to become one of the largest companies in the
world today (Izogo & Ozo, 2015). Started in 1994, the company has taken advantage of the
increased migration of businesses to the internet to become a leading provider in retailing of
goods to all parts of the world (Donici et al., 2012). It operates in a low-profit margin model with
great emphasis placed on delivering the goods at the lowest possible price to the clients (Izogo &
Ozo, 2015). This way, more customers are lured into purchasing the goods with the provision of
shipping to the desired location, giving it a massive edge over physical retailers. The latter do not
offer such after-sales services. Such has been the large impact of Amazon to customers with
many people trusting the retailer as a legit and reliable shopping channel. However, the recent
Corona Virus pandemic has seen Amazon embroiled in a brawl with its workers (Bain, 2020). A
number of them have threatened to sue the company over the poor working conditions that those
who operate in warehouses are exposed to with little being done to ensure that they are wellprotected.
