Excel Graphing Project #2 --- Vacation Options Plan a 10-day vacation with several options. Make graphs out of the information. Import the graphs into a Powerpoint presentation. Present/write up your findings. Group project!! Have fun! Information. You live in Dallas, Tx and are planning a vacation to Southern California with your spouse and two kids, age 8 and 10. You are considering 3 options. You are researching costs and want to discuss your findings with your spouse. Research the various options on the Internet and use Excel to compute on a day by day basis, the costs. You will make graphs and import them into Powerpoint. In Powerpoint, do short write-ups describing the pros/cons of each option. Import pictures that captures the spirit of each option. Save both files in your Projects Folder and print out both files. As you do research, include hyperlinks (both in Excel and Powerpoint) to the places you plan to stay and the activities that you plan to do! Option #1: Drive your SUV. It gets 22 mpg. Research the price of gas and include it in your fuel costs. Stay in motels. Plan for two meals a day (your choice where) and $20 per day for road snacks. Plan for stops along the drive and modest entertainment. Once you get to Southern California, plan to go to some of the sites in the area. Option #2: Fly to Southern California. Rent a car. Include gas in your transportation costs. Go on the internet and research the costs. You'll stay in motels/hotels. Plan for two meals a day (your choice where). Plan to go to some of the sites in the area and research the costs of entertainment/food. Option #3: Rent a motorhome from a friend for $250. The motorhome gets 7 mpg. Research gas costs per gallon. Stay in RV parks at night and research the cost. Cook your own meals at a cost of $35 per day. Plan for stops along the drive and modest entertainment. Once you get to Southern California, plan to go to some of the sites in the area. You can tow your car and use that to get around if you want! Make Graphs: (1) Comparing the total cost of the trip by each mode of tranportation (2) How the money is spent --- compare the 3 options. (3) Time spent doing things (traveling, entertainment, etc.) In your Powerpoint describe the pros and cons of each option. Ultimately, have a slide or two that reveals which option you are choosing, and why. You can include some animations to make it fun!
