Standard practice is essential in all fields, no matter what discipline an individual is practising.
Nurses are very familiar with policies and protocols. The procedures and protocols must be coming
from somewhere. In nursing, they come from the Nurse Practice Act and the ANA scope standards.
Nurse Practice Act is a state law that covers specific nursing topics and varies from state to state.
Florida, like other states, also has a nursing act to maintain high competency in nursing as a
practice. The act also protects the public from any danger that may come from incompetent nurses.
The act primarily looks into Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) (the
United States of America, 2019). The Nursing Practice Act bares definitions that encompass the
scope of practice for all medical practitioners in the nursing profession. The state of Florida
requires all nurses to be familiar with the act.
