With Marvel comics and DC comics being two of the most famous comic book
brands in the world, one would expect that they would have professional websites to
display their products with their own individual styles, and they would be right. Although
both websites offer the same services, the sale of comic books and merchandise, they each
offer a very distinct and unique experience which reflect their own individual tone of comics
towards potential buyers. Comparing and Contrasting these two websites based on their
proximity, alignment, repetition and contrast will allow viewers to see the differences and
similarities between the Marvel comics website and the DC comics website.
Both websites have a similar layout and structure with the appropriate organization
of related elements in the same space allowing for easy access to and from the different
parts of the websites. The header part for both websites contain the logo of each respective
brand, the navigation bar to the different services provided, the search bar and the
respective card companies they are in partnership with. The only differences between the
two websites would be that the DC comics website lacks a SIGN IN option while the Marvel
comics website has one located in the top left section and the DC comics website has an
ADDITIONAL DC SITES located on the top right while the Marvel comics website lacks that.
Another slight difference is that the structure of the DC comics website has a header divided
into two parts differentiated by two different colors while the Marvel comics website has a
header with no sub-parts inside it.
Both websites have a very different alignment with very different arrangements.
Although the header and footer remain relatively similar, everything else is far different
with each other. The header contains the navigation bar, search bar and logo as mentioned
earlier for both websites. As the viewer scrolls down in the Marvel comics website, we reach
the first section of the website where the header is followed by a ‘carousel’ consisting of
several intriguing topics that viewers might be baited to click on. Continuing further down,
we reach the second section of the website which is a list of topics with related images
aligned exactly on top of each topic ordered horizontally. After that, still in the same
section, there is a repeating pattern of a full-width image with two hyperlink options
followed by the same structure of a list ordered horizontally as seen earlier. We then reach
