Description
Option #2: Organizational Leadership: Initiating Phase
Select a hypothetical project, a project with which you have personal familiarity, or a project you research in the CSU-Global Library or on the internet. Summarize each of the following suggestions by Lussier and Achua (2015, p. 413) for successful change execution, describe it, and use an example situation or aspect from your selected project in your discussion of each suggestion:
- “Continuing to articulate a compelling reason for the change.
- Eliminating policies, procedures, and behaviors that undermine change efforts.
- Maintaining adequate human, financial and material resources.
- Forming a coalition of supporters and experts to counter any opposition.
- Celebrating milestones along the way.
- Staying the course in spite of perceived difficulties.
- Incentivizing workers with recognition and rewards.
- Keeping the process transparent.”
Your paper should include the following titled sections:
- Introduction
- Summary of Selected Project
- A titled section for each of the Lussier and Achua sections listed on p. 413 of the textbook. You may abbreviate. For example, you could abbreviate “Celebrating milestones along the way” (Lussier & Achua, 2015, p. 413) to “Celebrating Milestones” in order to create a concise section title.
- Conclusion
- References
Your paper should be 4-5 pages in length and conform to CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements. Include at least two scholarly references in addition to the course textbooks. The CSU-Global Library is a good place to find these references.

INTRODUCTION
Leadership can simply be defined as that influencing process which leaders exhibit in a given
organization with sole purpose of achieving set goals in that organization. When the word
leader comes to our mind, most of the times we think of powerful individuals who are
influential. This might not always be the case because leaders are varied depending on what
they are leading (Achua 2015). Leadership skills are essential attributes which must be
possessed by any leader who is leading any organization which aims at attaining high scale
of success. These skills are usually applied by leaders especially in different stages of project
management in an organization. Some of these stages include project initiation, project
planning, project execution, project monitoring and control, and project closure. These skills
are varied and they usually help a leader to carry his/her roles effectively. A leader who
lucks these skills will be unable to carry out his duties effectively and is likely to sink the
organisation into many problems than solutions. Later in this paper we will focus on how
various suggestions by Lussier and Achua can be applied in project management at initiation
stage by various players especially leaders.
