Question Description

Need help with my Mathematics question - I’m studying for my class.

State whether or not the pair of lines is perpendicular 2x + 2y = 4 and 2x + y = 8

Final Answer

the lines are not perpendicular to each other

illustration:

2x+2y=4

write in the form y=mx+c

2y= -2x+ 4

divide by two each side

y = -x+ 2

line 2

2x+y = 8

y = -2x + 8

since the product of the two gradients is not equal to -1 it means that the two line are not perpendicular to each
