Research paper review
According to the author, he attempted to investigate the main reasons for the present
discrimination of the African-American after been incarcerated. The author conducted this
research study due to the increased number of people being incarcerated due to their skin color or
socioeconomic background, and primarily the African-American population. The author points
out the effects of these people being confined, like the public health of those communities
affected and the individual persons' health care coverage after incarceration. With the aid of the
national longitudinal study of adolescent health and prosperity score method, it was found that
recently incarcerated persons tend to engage themselves in drug abuse like smoking tobacco and
to consume larger quantities of food. According to the study, the main aim of this research was
to break the long built belief that has come to be that every African-American person must be
incarcerated one time or another in his life. This norm has made these communities cripple since
this fact bounds the future generation, and break the pattern, a suitable long lasting solution must
be created based on this research study.
According to this research paper, it was evident that some side effects associated with after
imprisonment are the loose of the right to vote and abiding by parole rules. Some other minor
effects include the laziness created by these prisons to the incarcerated persons since the prison
provided even food. Though not that minor, an incarcerated person also loses his/her right to
vote in America.
The main aim of this research study was to examine the perceptions of incarcerating
communities of color, together with how the understanding is to those that have not been
incarcerated. Through the study of these perceptions, the research would aim to educate the
public and enhance the factors that lead to the incarceration of communities of color, thus
