Running Head: CLIMATE CHANGE 1 General Education Capstone- Climate Change Name Course Date 2 CLIMATE CHANGE General Education Capstone Research topic: Climate Change Effective methods you used in identifying and narrowing down a topic Narrowing to a topic idea is a crucial aspect of research. First, the researcher makes consideration of the topic's significance in the current times and its purpose (Arbaugh, Fornaciari & Hwang, 2016). In this regard, climate change is a global issue that nations are trying to ensure that they create a focus so that they can lower the effects such as global warming. Next, it considers components for inclusion in the research and methodology that will be applied. The research in the study had no specification hence open to use any of the methods. Three ways for critical analysis of sources to determine if they are scholarly Three main methods of determining scholarly work can be checked as follows. The first move is to check the author's credentials and their job or position titles. Secondly, the researcher needs to consider peer-reviewed status (Calkins & Kelley, 2017). Thirdly, check whether an author has offered recognition of the sources which need to be presented through citations and references. Articles summary Clayton et al. (2015) developed a study based on the psychologically-based issues in connection with climatic change. It considers the human behaviours responsible for cause and adaptation to climate change. It explores efforts to control climate change in addition to creating a criticism of how the poor analysis and decision making lead to the creation of ineffective CLIMATE CHANGE policies. It specifically assesses factors from human behaviours that drive climatic changes, adaptations, and science behind it. Hsiang et al. (2017) article make consideration of the costs associated with climate change responses. In this regard, it explores the United States case though the construction of a probabilistic and explicit derivation of estimates. Reflection further considers the damages costs and market value fluctuations that are as an effect of climate change. Some of the considered sectors include energy, health, labour, and agriculture. The estimates are considered to take an increasing trend. Why scholarly sources are applied in supporting research topic writing Scholarly sources are significant in writing a research topic as they allow a sense of credibility (Calkins & Kelley, 2017). Generally, they carry more trust weight as they are associated with the referenced sources. Also, they helped in the development of a good thesis. Moreover, scholarly sources offer a convincing data source that comes with the basis of facts. 3 4 CLIMATE CHANGE References Arbaugh, J. B., Fornaciari, C. J., & Hwang, A. (2016). Week 3 discussion 1: Final paper progress

I selected climate change as an important global societal issue that needs further research.
One of the reasons that this topic should be studied is its current status. As an ongoing problem,
climate change should be studied more frequently to gather more data about the topic and to
update its status. Besides, it is a topic that affects humans and the world in many ways, which
makes an important topic of interest. As advocacy campaigns related to the topic continue to rise
at a global scale, the pressure to gather more data about the topic is immense. Studies have also
shown that the world has missed its targets to manage climate change on several occasions
(Hilson, 2020). It should be understood that the world cannot remain sustainable if society
continues to push its targets. Since decisions involving the survival of humanity and earth’s
sustainability are crucial, sufficient data should be gathered to inform the decision.
My thesis statement is; because climate change is a global societal issue that determines
the survival of humanity, its causes and effects should be studied to inform decisions about its
prevention.
One of the peer-reviewed articles that discuss climate change focuses on its economic
effect on ...
