Introduction
Self-incrimination is defined as an act of exposing oneself to an accusation or crime. A
person can also name other people that are involved in the accusation or crime. Selfincrimination and confession can occur in different ways which are either direct or indirect. The
ways one can incriminate of confess against themselves are; interrogation through which
information of self-incrimination is produced or indirectly where information of selfdiscrimination is produced. In the indirect method, a person does not face pressure to do so and
they provide the information needed willingly. Criminals are not compelled to incriminate
themselves and they have to choose whether to speak to related authorities. Wire tapping and
eaves dropping are some of the methods that have been used to get information from criminals.
They have advanced to be used as electronic surveillance which include placement of ‘bugs’
inside premises to record conversations. There is however limitations set by the law on how the
