LA Confidential Analysis
The film, LA Confidential by Curtis Hanson is based on James Ellroy’s 1990 novel that goes
by the same name. It provides a story of a group of LAPD officers in 1953. It specifically provides
insights touching on the intersection between Hollywood celebrity and police corruption. The
director, therefore, sought to show that the unique feature which Hollywood creates in Los Angeles
provides the room for corruption to thrive within (Hanson). Essentially, police officers target
celebrities in a bid to gain financially from them. They consider celebrities as prey which they
