  • Assignment 2: LASA – Project Planning – Developing the Project Plan and Determining Critical Path

      1. Using the District4WarehouseMove WBS.xls provided, create a Microsoft project plan for the District 4 Warehouse Move project. Use the PDF document, Project Plan Check – District4Move, to check your work to be sure you have created your starting project plan correctly.  Microsoft Project is required for this task. If you have not yet downloaded OpenProj, please click here and follow the directions to do so now.

        Note: you will need to insert a column to include your WBS codes, then you will need to sequence the tasks to show tasks by work package. It may help to review the Microsoft tutorial, Sequencing tasks in a project:

      1. Based upon the details in the WBS and the project case, determine which tasks need to be completed first and which tasks are dependent upon other tasks to be completed prior to starting. Using this information identify predecessors in your project plan’s predecessor column. Complete the predecessor column by entering the line number of tasks that must be completed in order for each task to start. This will create your project timeline.

        Note: This is a critical step in the process to developing your critical path. It may help to review the Microsoft tutorial, Creating relationships between tasks:

    1. Using the View Network Diagram functionality within MS Project, determine the critical path for this project. In a MS Word document, list the activities that are on the critical path. Considering the risks identified in the risk table below, identify which risks would be most likely to increase your project timeline. Justify your responses.
    2. Submit both your completed project plan and your MS Word document.

four distinct areas i.e. districts one, two, three and four respectively. These districts conduct their
activities in an exclusively private/independent way different from the other units and hence get
different amounts of revenues. It is worth noting that district gets the most of the commands in the
largest market share, and this continues to increase ach single day.
The firm also lays down its annual goals at the beginning of every year. The goals serve as
guideline principles which need to be adhered to during the whole period of the year by the workers
with the objective of accomplishing them at the completion of that financial year. During the
current year, the set out aims include increasing distribution and the sales volume in the entire
eastern area so as to constantly raise their goods, receive high quality goods in an aim to maintain
their competitive advantage., expand the production levels of District four in order to gain high
requirement levels for their products, expand their brand identification by employing violent
marketing principles and policies eventually increasing levels of income gotten from all the sales
in the areas.
Having closely monitored the steady rise in demand for goods of the organization in
District four, there is still a dire need to take into consideration the benefits of an increase in
revenue collection quantities. Although, the equipment of the firm doesn’t have the capacity to
produce the quantity needed to cater for the additional demand created. Hence, the Company must

look for ways of controlling surplus wants of the goods rapidly and additionally ensure it attracts
the new customers before other competitive firms get the opportunity. However, this ability will
need some adjustments, maintenance and advancements prior to commencement of activities
within the premise.
The Organizational Structure
Project organization is usually well-coordinated and designed. Control of the main project
is done by the project director; a person may have the chance of overseeing the project actions
wholly. Major resolutions are arrived at through project manager. The project manager acts as an
administrative director. The executive has an overall responsibility for the entire project activities.
Persons working on the project are assigned into various groups with regard to their
personal skills. These different groups are under the management of team leaders who take whole

He/she is one of the individuals providing reports to project managers regarding their progress.
Members of the team are tasked with the collective responsibility of conducting the

Project management is controlled by Gantt named after the founder, Henry Gantt.
To begin with is the situation of entire process and extent of risk policy. In essence, there
is no such process that is constant and definite in manner. This is because almost all is interfered
with by external activities that are impossible to predict. Hence, the outside events occur at any

time despite the fact that the project is in session or not. These methods consider the likelihood of
unwanted activities from taking place in the entire period of the project.
The preceding event is closely related to a number of activities. Personal activities risk the
other activities to take place hence leading to a series of events. The sequences may have a negative
impact on the flow of the project together with the quantitative analysis employed in the estimation
of its impacts on the project plan that is set up by the project.
The next principle has a relationship with the sequence of events. This implies the activities
having a greater potential of having an impact on the project with regard to others. The next
principle is used to conduct the occurrences and activities closely. Although the development
