Description

The plan should cover research strategy, research questions, data needs analysis, a justified choice of techniques of data collection and analysis, and steps taken to ensure the ethical conduct of your research. I have prepared the proposal, I only needed a more detailed plan (around 3000 words) to be submitted and to be approved by my supervisor so that I could start my data collection.

I aim to use mindfulness tool online (which needed to be done) and Work-related Quality of Life survey before and after the 'mindfulness session' to access whether there are changes in quality of life in the workplace.

MINDFULNESS AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN WORKING ADULTS
Abstract
The study will seek to assess the effectiveness of mindfulness in enhancing the quality of life
in working adults. The research will adopt a descriptive research design to promote the
exposition of the relationship between mindfulness and quality of life. The collection of data
will rely on questionnaire and an online mindfulness tool. The respondents will fill a
questionnaire before undertaking an online mediation activity using the Smiling Mind online
mindfulness tool. At the end of the mediation, the study participants will complete a postintervention survey. The study will use the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) to
measure mindfulness, while the Quality of Life Scale (QOLS) will assess the quality of life
for working adults. The analysis of the data will rely on SPSS statistical tool, culminating in
interpretation of the results.

MINDFULNESS AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN WORKING ADULTS
Introduction
Quality of life is becoming a global concern, owing to its connection to varied
medical conditions, notably its influence on mental health issues. The working conditions
remain an essential part of shaping the quality of life. Mindfulness strategies present an
effective way of improving quality of life. Mindfulness-based approaches were found to be
effective at enhancing mental health in young people, such as children and adolescents in
schools. However, few controlled trials have evaluated their effectiveness among a focused
group such as university's staff. According to Kuyken et al., (2013), it is proven that effects
are significantly more substantial if the intervention targets vital and formulated mechanisms.
Besides, Huppert (2009) also discovered that participants across the full range of the normal
distribution of well-being could hypothetically profit from learning mindfulness to support
daily stressors and experiences.
Research aims/research question
The main objective of this research is to find out the influence that mindfulness in the
workplace has in the quality of life of university's adult employees. The study is meant to
apprehend the perception of work environment towards the quality of life and to enhance and
support mental health and well-being at work. The following research objectives will mitigate
the achievement of the study aim:
1. To explore the role of mental health on the quality of life of working adults.
2. To evaluate the effect of burnout on the quality of life of working adults.
3. To examine the influence of mindfulness on the quality of life of working adults.
4. To assess the relationship between mindfulness, burnout and mental health on the
quality of life of working adults.
The proposed study will seek to answer the following questions:

MINDFULNESS AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN WORKING ADULTS
1. How do Mindfulness practices affect the quality of a university employee's working
life?
2. What influence does burn out have on university employee's quality of working life?
3. How does the status of a university employee's mental health influence the quality of
working life?
Review of Literature
The dynamic changes in the working conditions call for an exhaustive analysis of the
interrelationship between mindfulness and quality of life. Different factors, including job
burn and mental health, espouse on the extensive aspect of quality of life in working adults.
The review of the connection between burnout, mental health, mindfulness, and quality of
life helps in cross-examination of the influence of mindfulness on working adults' quality of
life.
Mindfulness and Quality of Life
Mindfulness is a process that is concerned with people's ability to concentrate on the
situation at hand to observe the situation and responding appropriately rather than making
autopilot responses. It encourages viewing different perspectives more clearly and making
smart decisions (Hülsheger et al., 2014). According to Good et al. (2020), mindfulness
involves maintaining attention to an event, remaining focused in the existing moment and
holding a non-judgmental mind-set. Reb, Narayanan, and Ho (2015) agree with Good et al.
(2020) sentiments by asserting that mindfulness in the workplace concerns the potential of
staffs to pay attention to prevailing situations, instigating intent to manoeuvre through the
state in an open, inquisitive, and realistic way. Ultimately, an individual can make an
apposite decision. Additionally, Malinowski and Lim (2015) suggest that mindfulness entails
the state of cognisance, evidenced by distinguished keenness potential and assertiveness
toward intrinsic and extrinsic events (Malinowski & Lim, 2015). Mindfulness approaches

present a viable strategy to enhance a sober state of mind for both working and non-working
people.
Mindfulness is applicable in varied sectors, including healthcare, education, and
criminal justice system. The main reason for the introduction of mindfulness in the workplace
is to improve the well-being of employees and improve workplace productivity (Zivnuska,
Kacmar, Ferguson, & Carlson, 2016). Similarly, (cite) articulate that mindfulness strategies
stimulate emotional regulation and psychological exhaustion prevention, resulting in better
employee output and job fulfilment (Hülsheger, Alberts, Feinholdt & Lang, 2013). The
public sector has also applied mindfulness approaches, with the UK Government, for
instance, training some of its parliamentarians and other employees on mindfulness.
Workplace mediations, medical remedies, and common self-help initiatives that instil
mindfulness improve worker's general state of mind (Mesmer-Magnus, Manapragada,
Viswesvaran, & Allen, 2017). Leading Universities now offer mindfulness training to their
staff as well as students. Mindfulness is increasingly becoming a component on executive
education curriculum that offered by MBA and Management Schools. Notably, Zarotti,
