Question Description

influence policy? To what degree do you think MADD has changed over its history from a grassroots organization to a more institutional stakeholder? How does this change what it does or how it functions?

Tutor Answer

HKPJ
School: New York University

Political influence backed by influential leaders with the financial capital is how "grassroot" organization are so successful, however, in the case MADD, we are now introduced to factual and evidential proof supplementing power and prestige. Along with "proof", Mothers Against Drunk Driving need no longer the influential powers, only the direction of providing the public with facts, thus, now they are able to leverage public opinions along with millions of supporting "voices" throughout the nation. This forces influential leaders to recognize their constituents and consider their political positions if not recognized.
