Economists Grapple with their Race Problem
The Economist (2017) introduces the views of the American Economic Association
(AEA) on racism and its impact on their profession and discipline. The author believes that
openness to the ideas of diverse groups enhances the professional understanding of the corporate
world. Racism is not only unfair but also contributes to unfair competition in the marketplace.
This fact can be supported by statistics on the enormous racial gaps in wealth and income in
America. Besides, the recent killing of George Floyd contributes to the discussion on the
