Your response should go beyond the obvious and be written at a graduate level. Your answer must be no less than 1500 words and you must use at least three authoritative sources to support your position. NOTE: the use of only three (3) authoritative sources demonstrates a minimum level of acceptable graduate level work and is not exemplary nor necessarily proficient. Your text is NOT an authoritative source. All sources must be properly cited using the APA style.

YOU MUST ALSO ADD THE URL (Uniform Resource Locator) OR the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to the end of EVERY APA reference found on the internet.

Written assignments must be scholarly, not be written in the first person tense and must follow the current American Psychological Association (APA) format and style (e.g., double-spaced, indents, etc.) and include the following: cover page, abstract, discussion, conclusion, and references. The APA format can be obtained from the Saint Leo Library website, from the purchase of APA reference materials, from the commercial purchase of software templates, or from the APA web site.

All work must be completed in Microsoft Office applications. Work created in any other application will not be accepted.

Every weekly paper must conclude with a paragraph explaining HOW the university’s core value of respect applies to the contents of the current module’s assigned textbook readings. An in-text citation that includes a page reference must be included. A general statement about respect is insufficient. Click "Here" for Core Values

EVALUATING CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAMS 1 Abstract There are many programs that people design intending to achieve specific goals. In the process, it is essential to evaluate them for various purposes. In the context of correcting programs, the evaluation process suffices particular considerations for an excellent result. Recidivism, program costs, purpose, public support, research design, and the offender’s needs are critical factors for consideration. Correctional officials familiar with the practice of approving programs for their institutions should consider two methods of evaluating programs; single case study evaluation and case analysis when making their choices. The paper explains the factors that deserve consideration when evaluating a program and a justification of the rationale that the correctional official should use. Keywords: correctiona officials, costs, evaluating program, evidence-based practices, recidivism

JUVENILE JUSTICE

Abstract.
The period between the late 1990s and early 2000s witnessed the emergence and proliferation of
the super predator myth. Partly, this myth emerged from the belief that the rising cases of
juvenile offenders posed a threat to the criminal justice system and society as a whole. The myth
first emerged among criminologists but was taken up, and spread quickly by the media. By late
2002, the super predator myth had spread in most parts of the United States, and both state and
federal government had enacted measures to deal with this vice. The culminating effect of this
myth was that courts, law enforcement agencies, and correction facilities began adopting strict
measures to deal with the suspected cases of juvenile offenders. As a result, most young
offenders were forced into correctional facilities for crimes that would have been addressed
differently in the absence of the super-predatory myth.
Keywords: Super predator, Juveniles, Law enforcement, correction facilities.

1. Juvenile Justice

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, a myth about the existence of a ‘juvenile super
predator’ drove government agencies throughout the United States into the development of new
statutes and policies to curb this vice. Loosely explained, the super predator refers to a juvenile
criminal whose danger lies in the remorselessness of their actions and omissions. Though few in
number, the super-predators were believed to account for more than half the juvenile offenses in
the United States. This research paper examines the myth about the super predator, different
aspects of the myth, and its impact on the criminal justice system.
a. Super Predator Myth
In the late 1990s and the early 2000s, the American public got accustomed to the phrase
‘super-predators.’ According to Pierce (2019), super predators are juvenile offenders, who
engage in violent crimes, without any kind of remorse for the actions committed. Most of these
juvenile offenders were those that would prey on the innocent persons within and outside of their
age group. Steiner (2017) observes that the myth of the super predator developed from the
projections of a small group of criminologists and criminal justice pundits. In ...
