Purpose of the experiment
The experiment is meant to help students actually test and appreciate Thevenin’s theorem. The
experiment seeks to reduce the original circuit that has 2 voltage sources, and resistors in series
and parallel, to a simpler circuit with an equivalent voltage source and resistance.

Introduction
Electrical circuits are made up of a number of voltage sources, current sources, active elements
and passive elements. One port networks have a single load driven by the circuit sources. The
From the load resistor, the other complex part of the circuit can be converted to a two terminal
equivalent circuit for easier analysis. All the voltage sources and resistors can be converted to an
equivalent single voltage sources and a single resistance. The equivalent voltage is the open
circuit voltage while the resistance is referred to as the source resistance as viewed from the
terminal.
