Density of gold is 19.31g/cm^3, and density of platinum is 21.43g/cm^3.If equal masses of gold and platinum are transferred to equal volumes of water in separate graduated cylinders, which has greatest volume change.Explain or show sample calculation

The idea is Vfinal = VH2O + Vmetal

since m Au = m Pt = "m", we can do this calc

VAu = m x (1 cm³ / 19.3g) = (m / 19.3) cm³


VPt = m x (1 cm³ / 21.43g) = (m / 21.43) cm³

since (m / 19.3) > (m / 21.43)

V gold > V platinum

and change in water volume for the cylinder containing gold greater than change in water volume for the cylinder containing platinum
