According to WHO, Covid-19 (Corona Virus) is a disease occurring from infection caused
by a new strain of the Corona Virus. The virus has continued to represent and established critical
issues in public health and other aspects of life in the past. There have been several outbreaks of
viral pandemics. For instance, H1N1 influenza in 2009. Regardless, there have been studies
relevant to control trends of the disease in public places, more highly sophisticated studies are
required to help provide long term and short term valid and reliable measures to contain the current
trend of the outbreak. The research seeks to address the Public Health Emergency of International
Concern (PHEIC) by addressing the severity concerning the disease and its growing effect on the
vulnerable population.
Evidence has been established to show that individuals of older age and those with prior
chronic health conditions are highly predisposed to developing a crucial health impact from the
Covid 19. The purpose of the study was to identify data on countries across the world, which have
a population pyramid largely composed of the elderly—then assessing the risk of them getting
Covid 19 based on estimates of the age structure of the population and individuals who have lived
years with a disability of health conditions related to severe ailment from Covid 19.
Population Vulnerable to Covid-19
Based on the desire to analyze the burden of the disease to nations which have responded
to the outbreak by introducing major non-pharmaceuticals initiatives to maintain the public health,
for instance, social distancing. The study intends to analyze how the elderly population, which
most states are trying to protect, are at risk of being exposed and succumb to the disease.

The study established that nations that had a large proportion of the elderly population
include Italy, Germany, Greece, the USA, and Portugal. On the other hand, countries with
individuals who had health conditions vulnerable to Coved 19 include Hungary, Bulgaria, and
Croatia. The study, therefore, concludes that states should use the non-fatal burden of Covid 19
estimates to compute the geographical population vulnerable to Covid 19.
Secondary data of 45 countries population and individuals living with disability estimates
were extracted. The data was based on guidance from the UK government, which identifies
individuals age 70 and above as being highly predisposed to severe health consequences. The
results were described as the proportion of the population of age 70 years and above, and the
community of individuals living with health conditions vulnerable to Covid 19 across all ages.
The bivariate analysis, which involves an analysis of two variables to determine the
empirical relationship between them, was used to establish groups for each country and helped in
combining them to develop the whole level of a vulnerable population. A qualitative ...
