WINSTON CHURCHILL HISTORY

Half American, half Englishman, Winston Churchill, led a critical life. Winston
Churchill is a common name who played a crucial role during World War II (Davidson et al.,
2017). For those who do know him, Winston Churchill served as the British Prime Minister from
1940-1945 and between 1951 and 1955. One of the main reasons for Winston Churchill being
regarded as a prominent political figure of his time was his dual heritage of being both an
American and British and the role he played during WWII. Besides, Churchill was famous for
his oratory skills, especially the speeches he made and his refusal to give up despite things not
going according to the plan (Davidson et al., 2017). As a result, Churchill is considered one of
the most influential figures in Britain and America but in the entire world. In British history,
Churchill is regarded as a hero and has, on several occasions, been seen as the most famous
British Prime Minister. Winston Churchill proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he was a great
leader who understood what was supposed to be done and at the right time.
Winston Churchill was born in 1874, and in 1900 he was elected as a Member of
Parliament via the Conservative Party to represent Oldham Constituency in Manchester. Before
becoming an MP, Churchill had served in the military, but he left in 1899 (Davidson et al.,
2017). While in the military, he wrote reports for newspapers like the Pioneer and the Daily
Telegraph (Davidson et al., 2017). One of the first things that put Churchill on the limelight in
Britain was his capture in South Africa. He managed to escape despite being a prisoner-of-war,
and this adventure made him famous in his home country, Britain. Winston Churchill was also
renowned due to his political career and influence in the various positions he held. In the initial
years of his political career, Churchill made some decisions, such as opposing the British Navy's
expansion and offered support for legislation that imposed new taxes on wealthy individuals. In
1911, he also made a controversial visit to a police siege that was taking place in a building in

London, where two robbers had been trapped. He also contributed to the modernization of the
British Army and ordered that new war-ships switch coal-fired engines for more effective oilfired engines. However, his contribution during World War II is what made the individual
famous all over the world. He worked closely with the US president and the Soviet Union leader
to create an Allied war strategy (Davidson et...
