Description

In this assignment, students will pull together the capstone project change proposal components they have been working on throughout the course to create a proposal inclusive of sections for each content focus area in the course. For this project, the student will apply evidence-based research steps and processes required as the foundation to address a clinically oriented problem or issue in future practice.

Develop a 1,250-1,500 written project that includes the following information as it applies to the problem, issue, suggestion, initiative, or educational need profiled in the capstone change proposal:

  • Background
  • Clinical problem statement.
  • Purpose of the change proposal in relation to providing patient care in the changing health care system.
  • PICOT question.
  • Literature search strategy employed.
  • Evaluation of the literature.
  • Applicable change or nursing theory utilized.
  • Proposed implementation plan with outcome measures.
  • Discussion of how evidence-based practice was used in creating the intervention plan.
  • Plan for evaluating the proposed nursing intervention.
  • Identification of potential barriers to plan implementation, and a discussion of how these could be overcome.
  • Appendix section, if tables, graphs, surveys, educational materials, etc. are created.

Review the feedback from your instructor on the Topic 3 assignment, PICOT Question Paper, and Topic 6 assignment, Literature Review. Use this feedback to make appropriate revisions to these before submitting.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Benchmark Information

This benchmark assignment assesses the following programmatic competencies:

RN to BSN

1.1: Exemplify professionalism in diverse health care settings.

2.2: Comprehend nursing concepts and health theories.

3.2: Implement patient care decisions based on evidence-based practice.

The topic of the Capstone Change Proposal is Nursing Burnout and the plan is focused on nursing advocacy for themselves, please use additions to this when needed but please do not

Financial

The plan will be implemented through understanding the current nursing practices and utilizing a hyperlink to a section of said health care facility’s website in order to find out the complaints of the nurses anonymously and asking them how they think it should be fixed. The health care facility will then use the nurse’s input to provide a more specific plan that will be altered based on patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, nurse outcomes and nurse satisfaction.

Quality

The next step will be to implement that plan considering that stakeholder support had already been garnered. Furthermore, the plan will be implemented through the individual sector’s managerial level and changes will be made accordingly. This will be easier than a whole health care facility level because nursing burnout can be caused by varying factors rather than just on a wide scale. The individual sector will then utilize more traditional forms of advocacy because the short-term goal of the plan will be to improve nurse and manager communication levels because that can lessen instances of nursing burnout. As the nurse feels more comfortable advocating for themselves the nurses will propose more slight changes that can decrease nursing burnout and improve patient outcomes.

Background
The Nursing Profession is a career that many people always dream of pursuing because of
the lucrative salaries and compensation that comes with the work. It is no wonder children growing
up continually want to be health practitioners, especially nurses. Regardless of the positive regard
that the profession gets, there is also some negative side of the job, especially as it relates to nursing
burnout, (Grigorescu et.al, 2018). Many nurses work tirelessly day in day out to try and provide
quality care to their patients. However, they end being worn out, fatigued, and even depressed
because of the enormous workload that comes with the title of being called a nurse. Nurse Burnout
Is related to both mental and physical exhaustion and is caused by different underlying factors in
the nursing profession. Most nurses may suffer from burnout and other stressing factors
unknowingly.
Clinical problem statement
Over-worked nurses are usually burntout, as well as neglect to get satisfactory social help
or prizes in the work environment, nurses will encounter more elevated levels of pressure,
prompting an expanded danger of burnout. With an end goal to segregate themselves from further
psychological strain and depletion, a few nurses attempt to battle burnout by getting sincerely
disconnected, (Bakhamis et.al, 2019). This can have an inconceivably negative effect on a nurse's
work, capacity to communicate sympathy, function admirably in a group, and identify with others
in a positive route outside of the workplace. Another factor that can cause burnout is diminished
individual achievement; this is "disappointment in accomplishment and efficiency at work." for
the most part, connected with frustration for the worker according to their necessities being met
by the work environment. Nurses who drive themselves as far as possible may not get encouraging
feedback or prize from their manager that they envision.

Change Proposal
One of the main strategies that will be used to fix the nursing problem is by hiring more
nurses. This will ensure the number of patients to nurses’ ratio is equivalent. When there are a
sufficient number of nurses to take care of the patients and tend to their medical needs, then the
nurses wouldn't have to experience burnout as a result of having to work for long tireless hours
with no rest to meet the health needs of the many patients in a healthcare facility.
Nurse burnout has expanded in nurses because of increasing expenses of health care, the
expansion being used of innovation, and because of the increment in guidel...
