1) The point of revising an academic paper is to make sure that you have not made any mistakes. Also to see if you want to add anything else to the paper to make the paper flow more, and to make sure that if you were the professor would you give yourself an "A" for what you have written.
2) To make sure that it can be read and understood. Also, to unify your ideas into a cohesive, presentable form that demonstrates that you've studied the subject and you have some critical comprehension of it.
