Description

Q1. The role of family connection and the so-called gene advantage is a well-known phenomenon in human history even though most countries, especially the USA, such practices might be considered bribery under federal law. In this week's learning engagement after carefully studying the Case called It's All in the Family (page 274), please answer the following questions from your perspectives:

Explain why it is or is not a good practice to consider the connections a job applicant might have that could enhance an employer’s business portfolio.

Discuss whether targeting the children of well- connected political or business leaders is ethical.

Imagine that you are the Chief HR Officer for a company considering doing business in China. You have been informed that many of your competitors have implemented programs to hire the sons and daughters of influential Chinese leaders. What advice do you give to your executive leadership team? Whose interests would be most important in your policy decision?

Make sure you look into available scholarly references to support your opinion. Also in your replies analyze your chosen post from a critical point of view.

Q2. What are some factors considered in estimating the amount of uncollectible accounts receivable?

PROFESSOR'S GUIDANCE FOR THIS WEEK'S LE:

As stated in the text, companies do not always collect all the money they are owed. In banks, this is referred to bad loans. In most companies these are called uncollectible receivables. This can be considered an expense and has to be part of a planned budget -- as the question states, how are these expenses estimated prior to the time period? Ensure you read the text, conduct research and if you can actually present real numbers from specific firm examples in order to properly answer the question.

QN. 1 Effects of family and friends` job connections to businesses.
Every employer desires to get the best from an employee. Going for the most qualified, loyal,
trustworthy, and productive employees are aspects critical for consideration when it comes to
sourcing and hiring workforce (Donnelley, 1988). But the employees you may want to hire may
sometimes come from the family. Family members may be or may not be qualified to fit into
consideration. But family members who run businesses or companies may sometimes
compromise on picking the best candidates due to gene advantage. Other factors that may
influence job recruitment choice include wanting to please and seeking favor from wellconnected political and business leaders and friends. Such decisions, however, may have farreaching consequences on performance.
It may be considered good practice for many people, but to others, it may a bad practice. Here
are some reasons why it may be good practice; close family members may have some experience
relating to the work you do (Donnelley, 1988). That means they can meet your expectations
quickly and better than hiring people from outside because they already know your expectations.
You are familiar with them; hence you are aware of their strengths and weaknesses. Family
members are easy to control and agree with and can stretch their time to meet your targets.
Family members can be considered more loyal, reliable, trustworthy, and hard-working.
But it may be a bad practice because; people in need of employment and are qualified are looked
down upon (Dex & Smith, 2002). When it comes to family members, firing them may be
destroying family relationships, and the employees may take advantage of that. Being aware that
firing them may taint your image towards other family members, employers of close family
members may find themselves in a difficult situation to take action on what may affect business
