NUTRITION IN ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
NUTRITION IN ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
Proper nutrition influences athletic performance. Optimal nutrition is the key to athletic
performance. Athletes are required to eat a good diet that provides energy to complete the race.
The best diet for athletes should always consist of vitamins and minerals (Thomas, D. T. et al.
2016). The diet should be one that produces energy and promotes muscle growth and repair.
Water is crucial in athletic performance. Athletes lose a lot of water; hence they require
hydration. The introduction of fluids in their diets is essential for their performances. Nutrition is
essential to provide a strong body for athletes. A combination of protein, fats and carbohydrates
is required for peak performance. Athletes who do not get a proper diet will experience lower
performance. Therefore, nutrition can improve the performance of athletes (Spriet, L. L. 2019).

growth and repair is crucial for athletes. Vitamins, proteins, fats and carbohydrates are
macronutrients required by athletes (Burke, L. M. 2017). They need extra energy and high
carbohydrate intake for peak performance. Electrolytes are lost during the performance, and
adding electrolytes such as orange juice is important. Fluids such as alcohol should not be taken
since alcohol reduces athletic performance.
I will incorporate what I have learned in class by putting them into practice to ensure peak
performance. ...
