you are standing on the rim of a canyon. you drop a rock and in 7.0s hear the sound of it hitting the bottom. how deep is the canyon? what assumptions did you make? examine how each assumption affects the answer. (speed of sound in air is about 340m/s)

Final Answer

Find the depth of the canyon:  340 x 7.=2580 m


Assume the air is still and no wind or weather interference.  Wind velocity will affect speed of sound returning to observer.
