1. How did African and Amerindian people respond to the sudden arrival of Europeans after
1500?
Following the arrival of Europeans to the United States, there were different responses
from the Amerindians and the African people. Initially, the two groups have remained under the
control of the Native Americans who used the Africans as slaves. However, the arrival of the
Europeans placed higher demands on the two groups, and this resulted in some form of
resistance. There were changes in the forms of slave trades used, and the people started
embracing new cultures.
Over time, there was a rapid growth in European settlements in the United States. The
increase resulted in the introduction of new goods, and the Africans and the Amerindians used
that. There was a change in the way the people used the goods brought by the Europeans. There
was the adoption of the European textile for the use in clothing and the abandonment of animal
skin. Later, there was a change in the type of cookware used by the Africans and Amerindians.
There was also a change in some traditional approaches used by the two groups.
2. How and where did the Feminist movement emerge?
The feminist movement comprised a series of different political campaigns organized by
the women in an attempt to fight for their rights. Some of the issues that women wanted to be
addressed through the feminist movement included the cases of domestic violence, equal pay,
reproductive rights, sexual violence, among others (Burns, 2006). The priorities of the
movement varied depending on the nation. The movement wanted to effect changes in society.

The feminist movement began in the 18th century. The movement started following the
commencement of the first wave of socialist politics. At the time, the women had come together
to ensure they were provided with equal opportunities (Burns, 2006). It was at the Seneca Falls
convention that the feminist movement was started in the United States. The women wanted to
be given the right to vote and participate in other activities in society.
