Description

i will below attach part 1 and part 2 of the health behavior change assignments i did so you can do part 3 and i wll also post the instructions.

Part 3: RESEARCH & PROJECT PLAN Deadline: July 24, 2020 IMPORTANT: Please be sure to receive feedback on Part 1 and 2 BEFORE you begin your research and project plan (Part 3) in order to ensure that you are working with an appropriate behavior change goal. 1. Health Behavior Model/Theory Describe your health behavior change in relation to the concepts covered in relevant health behavior theories/models (refer back to Chapter 4 that includes a description of behavior change theories/models). Identify the theory/model you think will best explain the health behavior change. Briefly describe the theory. Explain how the concepts in the theory/model will apply to your target health behavior change. 2. Project Plan This phase involves developing an action plan for accomplishing your goal. You will identify the behaviors and/or thoughts that will help or hinder your progress toward your goal, develop plans for posting behavior change reminders, and determine rewards for successful behavior change. A. 3 thoughts/behaviors that will help Please describe three thoughts and/or behaviors that you think will help you achieve your goal. For example: You could post reminders on your steering wheel of your car and/or refrigerator if your goal has to do with the buying and consuming healthy foods. You could buy a pair of good walking/running shoes or gym gear if your goal has to do with exercise. Even telling someone about your project helps because it becomes a public statement that holds you accountable for your behaviors. You could spend 5 minutes each day visualizing yourself being successful in your goal.B. 3 thoughts/behaviors that will sabotagePlease describe three thoughts and/or behaviors that you think will sabotage your progress. For example: You might try to convince yourself that you are just too busy to practice progressive muscle relaxation exercise if stress reduction is your goal. You might drive past your favorite fast food site rather than pick an alternate route if your goal is to increase eating only foods prepared in your own kitchen. You could sabotage any program by allowing the "little voice" in your head to tell you that you are not worthy of the change. 2C. 3 Reminders Any behavior change requires reminders to aid your success. Make a list of at least 3 locations where you will post your reminders or otherwise remind yourself of your behavior change goal and decide what the reminders will say. D. 2 Rewards Any behavior change requires little rewards you give yourself to aid your success (remember positive reinforcement from Introduction to Psychology?). Describe two ways you can reward yourself for successful progress towards achieving your goal. You may give yourself a small reward for completing the behavior change week. The small reward could be as simple as a "Thinking of You" or encouragement card mailed to yourself or a game someone agrees to play with you if you are successful for a week. A larger reward could be a movie or dinner "out", purchasing a pair of shoes, etc. However, rewards should not be saboteurs that hurt your progress. For example, do not reward yourself with junk food if you behavior change goal relates to eating healthy foods. Also do not choose rewards that are internal by nature (i.e., just feeling good, worthy, and proud because of the accomplishment). These “feel-good” factors can accompany your external awards, which will be used to celebrate your progress towards your goal. Part 1: Issue and Goal Statement 1: Issue Statement: I believe I smoke too much hookah. Therefore, I am choosing to stop smoking hookah every day and only smoke twice a week. 2. Goal statement in positive terms: I will put my hookah away Monday through Friday and bring it out to smoke on the weekends when I am at social gatherings. 3. Application of 50% rule: I will start off by cutting down my hookah smoking to only twice a week starting on May 31 st and ending on June 15th. 4. Reason for your choice: 1) To improve my overall health in the gym and be able to breath properly 2) To slowly reach my end goal of quitting tobacco products 5. What you hope to learn: 1) Self-control 2)discipline 3) better healthy lifestyle 6. Prior experiences with this goal: I have previously tried to stop smoking hookah within the past year and I had a really difficult time sticking to my goal because I was not as active in the gym but I believe this will be a good way to help me get off hookah since I have started working out more and taking better care of my health. 7. Successful Progress: I will write down how many times I smoked a week if it was more or less than two and if I smoke more than twice a week I will add more time to myself to quitting hookah. Health behavior change: Moving from observation to intervention. Annual review of psychology, 68, 573-600. HEALTH BEHAVIOR CHANGE 2 The author of the article researches, “How can progress in research on health behavior change be accelerated?” Experimental Medicine provides the researchers with the methodology of addressing the question as it allows for the evidence needed to complete the investigation. Nonetheless, contemporary research draws its results mainly on several coinciding theories, thus depending greatly on the correlation evidence. The Experimental Medicine methodology emphasizes experimental testing of the target groups change, while a programmatic study on which the target group changes their health behavior and which of all involved technique impact change on the target. According to the author’s findings, it is evident that engaging with a particular goal enhances their behavior change. However, more systematic studies are required to find the best way to engage the target. I will start by avoiding hookah smoking on weekdays and smoke on weekends. Gawande, R., To, M. Mindfulness training enhances self-regulation and facilitates health behavior change for primary care patients: a randomized controlled trial. Journal of general internal medicine, 34(2), 293-302. The author of the article researches the effectiveness of self-management in improving health outcomes amongst the patient’s primary care. The insurance-reimbursable program provides the insight of the study by hypothesizing the mindfulness training data for the patients in primary care by analyzing the effectiveness of catalyzing disorders. The research shows that depressive disorders and anxiety substantially interfere with the goal of self-management. I intended to seek aid in controlling hookah smoking-related disorders. Downs, D. Journal of technology in behavioral science, 4(1), 33-41. The writer of the article aims at examining the belief of inter-conception females concerning their smartphone usage and find out female's preference as they participate in the study interview. Females participated in the study, and the results show that they identified the advantages of using smartphones n modifying individual behavioral interventions that are by being useful and convenient. I intended to integrate the use of a smartphone to influence my hookah smoking habit. Hagger, M. S., & Hamilton, K. (2019). Springer, Cham. The author of the article aims to determine the behavioral changes that occur during the transition to the parental hood. According to the data provided by the insight researcher on health psychology, most of the positive changes occur during the parental hood transition. At the transition stage, individuals experience increased demand for infant caring. The increase in demand may act as a positive reinforcement to behavioral change. I believe that in my transition to the parental hood, I will be able to stop my hookah smoking habit. Hennessy, E. A., Johnson, B. T., Acabchuk, R. L., McCloskey, K., & Stewart-James, J. (2020). The result of the assessment shows that twenty-seven percent of the results were eligible and that self-regulation is a single primary mechanism in the intervention for health behavior change. Conclusively, the future researcher should focus on utilizing advanced methodology. I intend to use the statistics described above in controlling my hookah smoking habit. Health Behavior Model
There are several models of health covered within the unit. The theory of reasoned action
is the best theory applied to help in ending the taking of hookah. The theory states that the
behavior of a person is influenced by their intensions of performing the behavior and in the
intension, in turn, affect the function of personal attitudes towards the subjective norm and
behavior (Yzer, 2017). Currently, I have been addicted to taking of hookah, which is highly
influenced by my intension of taking the drug. This has affected the functioning of m...
