Description

Students will view these films and then create a researched and supported argument. The key questions are given above. All of them revolve around the issue of doing “good history.” Each one of them requires an answer to the question and then support of your answer. Why do you say that?

You will not be able to say everything there is to say about these films, so you will want to pick a particular theme or issue (characters, events, idea, etc) and make that the focus of your argument about the films as good historical analyses.

3

In order to do this and have a verifiable argument, you will need to have a minimum of five sources (three of which MUST be academic sources).

Each argument is to be a minimum of 5 pages (1250 words). This does not include a title page, charts/photos, and bibliography.

Introduction
The present times that we live in as humanities provide us with good things. Our existence as
individuals came to be when some things were already going on. Some of the things we invented
and some will happen after we are dead. How do we know all these? By the study of history.
Getting to know what took place in the past equips us with an understanding of what happens
today. A good example is the similarity of the Spanish flue of 1918 and the Covid19 pandemic.
Both cases have the same dynamics from spread to control measures. In the same line, we can
have a glimpse of the future. Consequently, the knowledge of history can be acquired through
various ways from numerous sources varying from libraries, museums, films, journals, and like.
These sources can bare excellent or lousy history. However, the line lines that define "good
history" are not yet established by historians and scholars worldwide. To some people, good
history depends on its intended purpose, audience, style, and like. These three parameters are the
fundamental determination of a "good history" This paper looks at the parameters that define the
three biographies Imitation Game, Pride, and The Big Short as useful history.
Support and Backup
Good history materials should have evidence to back it up. In real-life experiences, it is always
easier to convince people with evidence rather than theories without proof. Many activities that
take place around us leave a mark. Researches and studies give the avenue for scholars to credit
their theories by providing support and evidence. The film Pride is an excellent example of

evidence-based historical material. The evidence comes from real-life meetings with the
inspirations behind the film. (Clarke 2014 )1 writes what took place when she met one of the
people who influenced film production. It shows that the film did not just pop out of the blues;
someone did something that...
