Codes of ethics and codes of practice have been used as synonyms, making reference to
their mutual intended purpose, i.e. articulating standards of conduct that an institution value.
Code of ethics is similarly termed as integrity codes, codes of conduct, honor codes, corporate
codes, mutual protocols, recommendations and guidelines. For the objectives of this entry code,
definition of code of ethics is taken from the Dictionary of Civil Society, Philanthropy and the
Non-Profit Sector. The Code of Ethics shall be defined as- A declaration of values developed by
the association and used to guide the right behaviors of its employees and its leaders. Such an
ethical principles is usually established by a professional organization or a trade organization,
regulated and implemented by that entity, in particular in fields where little to no policy
oversight is in effect. Code of ethics encompasses five aspects such as the moral content,
procedural content, company specificity, public ownership, and adaptation ("Code of Ethics –
