Abstract
The history of divorce in shows that divorce a progressively changed over the years
across many parts of the world. However, it was not very popular in the European regions until
the 19th century. The purpose of this paper is to research the history of research based on
Midwestern Europe in the 19th century. Information on the origin or the possible causes of
divorce is gathered across literature materials and publications based in the Midwest Europe.
However, the research has its main basis on the literature of Kate Chopin’s, “A Story of an
Hour”, “A Doll House” by Henrik Ibsen and Susan Glaspell’s, “Trifles” that tries, in narratives,
to explain or create the ideal of divorce in Europe.
