Information assurance can be defined as an activity usually carried out by organizations
to ensure that their systems keep safe, confidential, and sensitive information. Organizations
identify their business assets, policies, and applications, which store processes and communicate
them. The susceptibility of this information to attacks is then estimated and then quantified.
From this information obtained, an organization can then carry out a risk assessment, which
helps guide an organization to devote resources optimally to protect its data. When the
protections are put into place, the information assurance practice carries out the assessment and
auditing framework, which are significant in helping an organization, comprehend how well its
controls reduce the risks. Therefore, information assurance is substantial in organizations
because it ensures the protection of data in transit and throughout the data storage, which has
made it an essential component of data security. After all, the business transactions and processes
mainly depend on the digital handling processes.
The benefit of information assurance change initiatives is for the organization to
comprehend the ongoing investments so that they can effectively manage information security
risks. Importantly, a coordinated strategy will minimize the costs of information security. Apart
from that, this will ensure that there is adequate information, which can ensure organizations

influence the need for change. Various factors influence organizational change (Ng, Ahmad, &
Maynard, 2013). These factors include external influences, organization trustworthiness, quality
of products, and reputation, and misunderstandings of information security. Perceptions play a
significant role in identifying information risks, and conscious decision of information security
investment.
External Influences- many decision-makers in organizations need to be fully prepared to
reduce information risks. However, their stimulation is due to outside members, who are their
potential customers who rate their organization's faithfulness, reliability, and quality. The
administrative team is convinced that trustworthiness is a fundamental aspect of protecting a
client's data and is one way to trust their clients. Therefore, information security is the foundation
of trust in organizations. Image and reputation are essential aspects of information assurance
because, without proper information security, there is a big possibility that a security breaching
will occur ( Ahmad & Maynard, 2013). When that happens, there will be a reduction of
reputation in the industry. Otherwise, their reasonable information assurance will enhance their
trust in their customers and build their partners' confidence.
