  • Explain victims’ compensation. What rights are afforded to victims? Why are both of these important?

Victims rights are the legal rights afforded to the victims of crime . The victims rights are as follows -

Right to protection from accessed 

Right to notification 

Right not to be excluded from proceedings 

The right to speak at criminal justice proceedings 

The right to speak with prosecuting attorney . 

The right to restitution 

Right to a proceedings free from unreasonable delay 

Right to be treated with fairness and respect for victims dignity and privacy . 


Victims compensation is a government program to reimburse victims of violent crime such as assault , homicide , rape and also their families for their out of pocket expenses . Every state has a victims compensation program . 

With are important because otherwise it would not be possible for a witness to bear court costs and he or she also needs the rules from some type of protection
