Search online about a Free People's physical store's interiors and windows, find example for EACH of the following visual design strategies:

  • Color: Find a display or window that REALLY uses color to grab the shopper’s attention!
  • Texture: Remember, this can be texture that you can feel, or simply “Visual texture”
  • Proportion: How does the parts-to-whole relationship work?
  • Direction and Line: Does the display guide your eye up/down or right-to-left using line?
  • Shape: Does the display or window make use of unusual or distinct shapes?
  • Size: Is there a play on various sizes, using groupings or individual elements?
  • Sequence: Think repetition and patterns!
  • Tension: unequal balance in a display often creates “Tension” for the viewer

Each strategy needs to have one screenshot displayed with text.

Each strategy should have about 40-50 words. There is an example in the attachment.

If you have other brands, you can write about that, it doesn't have to be Free People.

Colleen Manh S. Spencer Merchandising Presentation Strategies Nov. 7, 2019 Elements of Design Assignment: Dover Street Market Los Angeles Color: Brain Dead uses a very bright and colorful disply to catch the attention of the consumer. This display stands out, not only because it is super bright, but also because is different from all of the other monochromatic displays in Dover Street Market Los Angeles. Texture: This display makes good use of visual texture. The texture may not be of the garments themselves, but the texture of the background and manequin heads really catch the consumers attention to take a look at the display. Proportion: The size difference between the 3 necklaces in display and the giant glass case that they’re in is very apparent. The proportion of the giant glass case evokes the feeling that the necklaces are very grand and have a big signifigance. The huge display grabs the consumers attention and draws the eyes to the center of the case where the necklaces are sitting. Direction and Line: The direction of the bars around the garments draw the eyes from the floor, to view the bags, to the top of the rack where the clothes is hung. The jagged and linear thin lines evoke a sense of excitement which causes the consumer to want to see more of what there is to offer. Shape: The abnormal shapes of the clothing racks catch the consumers attention and draws their eyes to the hanging garments because the shape of the rack is different from the usual straight racks. The curved shapes of the racks also allow for hanging garments to not overlap one another, so they are able to be viewed fully. Size: This new beauty display in the store reminds me of a supersized bathroom cabinet filled with beauty products. The varying sizes of the beauty products draw the eyes of the consumer to look at the certain product and size groupings on display. Sequence: The repetition of varying shoe styles draws the consumers eyes to the display. Their eyes go from one sequence of shoe style to the next. The repetition is also very neatly displayeed so it is satifying to the consumers eyes. Tension: The imbalance and fragility of the tower of chairs causes tension. Along with the procariously hanging hats that are on displayed on the chairs, they seem like they could fall off at any moment. All of the tension from this sculpture display catches the consumers attention.
