Good afternoon class,

If I were an employer, some of the paid-off-times that I would consider include full salary compensation and health insurance. I consider these benefits as crucial because the employee enjoys their full remuneration as well as receive quality healthcare while not at work. This would motivate them to give their best at work.

The key strength of providing this benefit is that the employee's welfare would be adequately cared for, and they will develop a sense of commitment and motivation for their work. This means that as the employer, I will enjoy the assurance of having the employee's services. On the other hand, I will have to cater for the costs in a time when the employee's services are not available.

  • If you were in charge of a business, what paid-time-off benefits would you implement to help retain and attract great employees? Why?
  • We would implement a paid-time-off birthday for all employees. Today’s business is ever-changing; hence, keeping and attracting talented or competent workers can be the difference between success and failure. In other words, great organizations are the footprints of people, and showing this noble gesture could go a long way.

According to the author, today’s employee benefits offerings make a definitive impact on an employer’s recruitment and retention efforts. Employees are looking for more than just a paycheck; they want to be able to choose benefits that are important to them even if it means paying for such benefits (Halkos, 2016).

    • What would be the strengths and drawbacks of offering the paid-time-off benefits that you recommend?

One of the most critical strengths of the paid-time-off benefits is lower stress levels and well-rested employees. Furthermore, the drawback can see an employer's cost increase and lower productivity.

According to the author, employees tend to view PTO as a benefit and use all of the time off, whereas they may not have in the past when they had time off for personal days, sick days, and vacation. Americans, especially, are notorious for not taking paid vacations and other paid time off work (Heathfield, 2019).

    Explanation & Answer

Hi, I just finished! I've attached the document with the separate parts of the assignment, as well as the outline, which shows you how I organized everything. Thank you!

    Initial Post:
If you were in charge of a business, what paid-time-off benefits would you implement to
help retain and attract great employees? Why?
If I were in charge of a business, I would be sure to provide generous paid-timeoff benefits to my employees. This would allow me to interest dedicated and talented
people in working for my company. One of the ways I would do this is by implementing
a twice yearly paid-time-off policy. Every year, my employees would be able to take two
fourteen day long paid breaks from work. This would be in addition to paid-time-off for
holidays. I think that this would be a great way to make sure that my employees would
remain dedicated and hard-working, and it would prevent them from burning out or
feeling resentful towards the company. “We ask employees to work hard, but we also
want them to take their PTO to reduce stress and recharge their batteries” (Davis, 2014).
Employees can do better work when they feel rested.
What would be the strengths and drawbacks of offering the paid-time-off benefits that you
    recommend?
A huge benefit of offering these paid-time-off benefits would be that potential
employees would be attracted to my company. Everyone wants to work at a company that
treats their employees well and gives them an incentive to work hard, and I think that
they would see that my company would do just that. Additionally, I believe that they
would be happy to work for a company that treated them well, and therefore, they would
produce better work. “The Project: Time Off research found that employees who reported
that their company encourages vacation (68 percent) are much happ...
